இந்தத் தலைப்பு பரந்துபட்ட ஈழத்து இலக்கிய வளர்சிப்போக்கினை உள்ளடக்கியது. எனக்குத் தரப்பட்ட 30 நிமிடத்தில் இதனை அடக்குவது என்பது இலகுவான காரியமல்ல.

ஈழத்து இலக்கிய வரலாறு 2000 ஆண்டுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட காலப் பரப்பினைக் கொண்டது என்பதை பழந்தமிழ் இலக்கியங்களும் கல்வெட்டுக்களும் சான்று பகர்கின்றன. ஈழத்துப் பூதந்தேவனார் ஈழத்துக்குரிய தனி அடையாளத்தை வழங்கிய முதல் புலவராவார். இவரது ஏழு பாடல்கள் சங்க இலக்கியங்களிலே காணப்படுகின்றன.

Chapter 10

Power Hungry

Within a single day word of Vasantha Velautham’s punishment spread throughout the Jaffna peninsula like wildfire. Many of the rumors had been deliberately inflated  to strike fear into the hearts of those who still thought to defy the Tamil Tigers. One account claimed that the poor principal had been shaved and left naked in a cell in Kilinochchi. Another rumor that circulated in the northern coastal areas claimed that the word ‘ELITE’ had been branded into her back with a heated iron rod, and the rumor mill tended to exaggerate the amount of the fine from sixteen million to sixty million rupees. All agreed, however, that if she didn’t pay the fine, she would be tied to a light pole in front of the Vembady Girls’ College and executed.

அவுஸ்திரேலியாவில் மெல்பேணிலிருந்து ஒலிபரப்பாகும் வானமுதம் தமிழ் ஒலிபரப்புச் சேவையின் பத்தாவது ஆண்டு நிறைவையொட்டி அனைத்துலக ரீதியான சிறுகதை, கவிதைப் போட்டிகளை நடாத்துவதற்கான ஒழுங்குகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளன.

2. சிறுகதை, கவிதைப் போட்டிகளில் ஏதாவது ஒன்றிலோ அல்லது இரண்டிலுமோ ஒருவர் பங்கு பற்றலாம். ஆனால் ஒருவர் ஒரேயொரு சிறுகதையை அல்லது ஒரேயொரு கவிதையை மட்டுமே அனுப்பமுடியும்.

Chapter 9

Tiger Verdict

The Minister of Political Affairs stood up from his seat when Vasnatha Velautham was escorted before him. “Madam Vasantha Velautham, do come in. I’m very glad you decided to accept my invitation to come to Kilinochchi. Please,” he said, waving his hand at one of the chairs, “take a seat.”

The portly Principal heaved a sigh of relief at the Minister’s affable greeting. She sat down in her chair as hope rose up in her breast. She tried to ignore the soldiers who now stood behind the Smiling Minister glaring at her. At least the Minister was smiling—but then he always seemed to be smiling. Maybe he would apologize and admit that the entire affair had been a mistake. So hoping, a smile of her own rose to her lips.

“I’m sorry for having had to order you to come here, Madam. I also wish to apologize for the delay in meeting with you. I had a very urgent matter to attend to.”

“Thank you very much, Sir.” The Principal’s gaze was drawn to the huge portrait of His Royal Highness taken when he was a younger man. She had seen two others much like it in the hallway outside.

பின்லாந்தின் பசுமை நினைவுகள் – நூல் அறிமுகம்

வட துருவ நாடான பின்லாந்தின் - பசுமை நினைவுகள் என்ற புத்தகம், தென் துருவ நாட்டில் வசிக்கும் எனக்குக் கடந்த மாதம் கிடைத்தது.

சமீபத்தில் எனது நண்பர் தயாளன் கனடாவில் இருந்து அவுஸ்திரேலியா வந்திருந்தார். அவர் தன்னுடைய மாமா ஒரு எழுத்தாளர் என்று சொல்லி ஒரு புத்தகத்தை எனக்குத் தந்தார்.புத்தகத்தைப் பார்த்தபோது, ‘பின்லாந்தின் பசுமை நினைவுகள் – ENDLESS MEMORIES OF FINLAND – உதயணன்’ என்று இருந்தது.

ஒருகாலத்தில் வீரகேசரிப் பிரசுரம் பல நல்ல நாவல்களைத் தந்தது.

என் இளமைக்காலத்தில் பல வீரகேசரிப்பிரசுர நாவல்களைப் படித்திருக்கின்றேன். நாவல்களின் சாரம் என் நினைவில் இல்லாவிடினும், நாவல்களின் பெயர்கள் என் நினைவில் நிழலாடுகின்றன. அந்த நாவல்களில் ‘அந்தரங்க கீதம்’, ‘பொன்னான மலரல்லவோ’ என்ற நாவல்களை எழுதிய உதயணன் என்பவர் இந்த நூலின் ஆசிரியர். இராமலிங்கம் சிவலிங்கம் என்னும் பெயருடைய இவர் அன்றிலிருந்து இன்றுவரை ‘உதயணன்’ என்ற புனைபெயரில் எழுதி வருகின்றார். மூத்த எழுத்தாளரான இவர், ஈழ இலக்கியத்தின் முக்கிய சஞ்சிகையான ‘கலைச்செல்வி’யை சிற்பியுடன் ஆரம்பித்து நடத்தியவர்.
